Back and sleepy

In the clear again, I think. Still have 2 assignments due tomorrow, but I don't think they're major. Haven't started them yet though, but oh well. In any case, I'll mostly make this into a shitpost about my week.
First of all, it turns out the group project is due next week. It was supposed to be this week but I guess plans just changed. Oh well, it works better for me anyway. I didn't see the movie, just skipped through until I found a scene worth using for my essay. Unfortunately my partner asked what I thought of the movie and I lied saying it was good. She proceeded to try talking a hole into my head and asking me what I thought about scene X and Y. Eventually I told her I had a bus to catch so she understood and stopped talking as I left. The other members of our group didn't come that day though.

On Wednesday I had a Japanese test. I go into class and my professor put the seating arrangements up. I end up sitting pretty much opposite of where I always sit, but I still sit next to the same person. I wouldn't have paid it any mind really, but while taking out my pencils I hear her ask:
"Do you watch Madoka?"

Wat. I didn't really give an answer but she told me she saw a glimpse of my core drill key chain (the one without any tags on it indicating what it's from) once in my book bag. I never thought anyone would see it so never bothered removing it from my keys, since they're always in my book bag, but I guess someone was watching one day when I didn't notice. I suppose there was also a day where the lobby was empty before class and I was listening to Magia while she passed by and asked me what room we were in that day. I didn't think of it at the time, but even though I don't listen to my music loud, it was quiet enough that the sound could probably leak pretty noticeably. I don't talk with anyone, and it's not like she asked anyone else any sort of question like that (she never even made it known so watches anime actually) so it was really surprising to get asked a question like that completely out of the blue. She didn't say much since it was right before the test anyway, but I suppose this means on Monday she's going to want to talk to me about the finale that aired yesterday. I don't really have much of a problem with that, I guess. I'll try to keep it from being a foot into the door of getting to know me though.

And of course, ZUN released TH13's demo this week, as if he wanted me to be distracted from my work! Good thing its difficulty level was easy enough for me to not get hooked onto it. I still enjoyed it, and under normal circumstanced would have played more; specifically to get Youmu's shot type down, it has a lot of potential but seems like it needs you to play in a Shoot The Bullet kind of style. I admittedly didn't like the new music at first either, but it ended up growing on me after playing through a few times.

And today the plan was to go to my grandmother's house so my uncle could take a look at my computer. I pulled my tower out and as I unplugged it I realized something. I had the wrong cord plugged in. This whole time I was thinking I unknowingly pulled something inside when switching cables and went too braindead to fix it. No wonder I couldn't find anything wrong! It got enough power for the motherboard's light to turn on, but it wasn't enough power to actually start it up. I know, I know. Why would I have 2 identical cords, with 1 being incompatible with my power source (yet able to fit) and within such close proximity? I dunno! I didn't even know that cord could fit into my computer, because it's the cord used for my internal to external drive converter. Isn't that funny!? Hahahahahahahahahahah!

Okay, really. It took me way too long to figure that out. I was too focused on looking at my computer's guts to realize that I just had the wrong cord plugged in. Well, now I know! Unfortunately I already had a ride ready to take me to Gram gram's house, and I could have just explained the situation and turn the ride down, but I felt like it'd be kinda mean to say "well I only really wanted to go there to see what my uncle has to say about the computer" and cancel the trip. Even though I'm sure they wouldn't mind or think anything of it. So I'm in my grandmother's house right now. I wasn't able to work on my computer, but I assume I can get it working easily when I get home on Sunday to pop the XP disk inside and run recovery.

And since I'm up here I might as well go to a nice pizza shop I grew up on and get one of their huge calzones. I have someone reading Symphonic Rain right now and giving me his commentary of it every now and then. He just finished the 3 main routes and is on one of the secret ones right now, but the point is I got in the mood for calzones again from Symphonic Rain.

On another note, I've been keeping up with some blogs but haven't really had the time to comment, sorry guys. I could have commented, but I'm sure most of you have noticed my comments are sometimes quite lengthy. It's not like I do it on purpose, but they just come out that way. I didn't really want to lose track of time by writing long comments, so I held back. Since I have work to catch up on tomorrow I dunno if I'll be free then to comment, but I'll try.

Now to end this post in a semi-non-shitty manner, I guess I can combine it with the video of the week. This is the PV for Hyadain's (congratulations to him for his first professional debut, seems to be a recent trend for Nico singers to get picked up to do anime OPs) Kakakata kataomoi-c, the opening for Nichijou. I don't know why, but this PV seems so hypnotic. I blame the cube and dancers. Seriously, I keep watching it, and my attention keeps getting drawn to either the dancers or the cube, but I don't know which one is grabbing my attention more. And it's not even particularly eye catching either, but it's hypnotic for some reason!

Now I'm sleepy, so I'll probably just review the kanji I learned today, finish up the last chapter of Poncho, and go to sleep. Take it easy, everyone.

Kirari returns with cool stories with a side of Takoluka

Alright, so I'm past the initial hook of my Marvel vs Capcom 3 addiction and settled down a bit so I don't have to stay on the game all day. I should continue normal posting starting tomorrow. I have a few images from my Flandre Nendoroid that just came in last week, so I'll be doing a review of her. I was thinking of reviewing Takoluka, but there's not much for me to really talk about, so I may just make a brief post tomorrow with cute pictures of her if I feel like doing so.

I might as well use this post to stuff in a few short cool stories to fill some space up. First of all, yesterday I went to my usual Japanese bookstore to pick up Yotsubato volume 10. I was also looking to see if they had that new Madoka Magika manga, but sadly they didn't have it in stock. I asked at the counter for them to special order it for me though, so I'll go pick it up whenever they receive it.

I remember /jp/ had a thread about places in New York and mentioned that another bookstore called Bookoff is just a few blocks away from Kinokuniya, and sells Japanese books at very low prices. Well, I decided to give it a look, and wow. They're used books, but they're mostly in new condition, as if taken right off the shelf of a new bookstore. I managed to get Oyasumi Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei 20, Mirai Nikki 3, and Kodomo no Jikan 1-5 from the $1 section. All in good condition. Also picked up Oyasumi Punpun 2 which was about $5, if I remember correctly. I'm very satisfied with the store, and will of course be doing business with them again.

I missed the deadline on a test from one of my online courses, but I didn't make a big  deal about it. Taking it easy, it's just something that can't be helped. The professor is a crab so I don't even feel like emailing her to ask if there's any way I can take a makeup exam. It does annoy me that she also gave a research topic that's limited to 1 internet source and 2 library sources. Honestly, I don't really understand the logic behind this. If you can find the information needed, it shouldn't really matter where you got the information from. Information is information, regardless of where you get it. I really dislike when instructors live in the past like this. I'm in no way belittling printed books by insinuating that they're no longer useful. Of course there are still things that are simply better found in books than on the internet, the internet doesn't have everything on it. But at the same time, the internet certainly has enough resources to complete a research paper in depth. I supposed if I was doing a thesis on something, I'd want to dig deeper into as many sources as I could get, but if it's just a simple essay then I shouldn't have to go out of my way when everything I need is at my fingertips.

What makes this whole situation even worse is that the class this essay is for is, ironically, a Computer Science course. Now tell me, why the hell would I go to the library and pick out a printed book to do research on web design? What is the logic behind this? Literally everything I need for this research topic is right online for me to look up. I really doubt there's any books I can find that will tell me something about web design that I couldn't find out already on the internet. If I was doing a history paper? Sure, I may not agree with getting information from books if I can find it on the internet, but at least books give the chance of boring old dudes that write personal experiences of their time in World War II or something. But web design? Come on. I guess I'll just download am ebook or something, because I'm too lazy to go to the library just to pick out a PHP guide or something for reference.

That aside, tomorrow is my court date to fight the ticket I mentioned in a blog post last month. It was moved 3 times, but I haven't gotten notice of a new date yet, so I'm assuming that tomorrow is the real final date. I'll head over there tomorrow and hopefully get this settled so I don't get legally robbed of $75. I'll watch the newest episode of Kimi ni Todoke and get some sleep. Win or lose the case tomorrow, I'll probably just come home and celebrate, or take it easy, by playing some Marvel vs Capcom 3.

Until then

Inactivity

Expect some inactivity because Marvel vs Capcom 3 is taking up all of my time. At least a week of no posts.
Here's a cute image from Siro (Symphonic Rain artist) for coming.

Hsien-ko and Sentinel images leaked (Updated with videos)

Update: They were officially revealed this morning. You can find their videos and images here.

Just talking about various unconnected things I thought about making blog posts about before but figured they wouldn't make long enough or interesting enough entries alone. I had several things in mind before writing this, but it figures I'd forget most of them the second I open Blogger.

First I'll start up with a bit of news. I saw this early in the morning when it was first leaked, but I was too busy to post it and thought it wouldn't make too long of a post. Plus, I plan on making a post when the official videos come out for them, since that's what I'm really waiting for. There were leaked images of Sentinel and Hsien-ko in Marvel vs Capcom 3 from some German game magazine that was supposed to come out on the 28th. I assume Capcom planned on revealing the two tomorrow, but planning a release on the day before a printed magazine that covers them is set to be on shelves isn't very smart planning. They should have known that the magazine would be in the hands of people a few days prior to the actual release date.
Galactus shown as the final boss, along with Sentinel's portrait.
Hsien-ko ♡
Full character select screen. Hsien-ko on the bottom left.

The first leaked image to show up.
Just one of the many fake photoshops to appear yesterday.
It's funny mostly because these leaks came after a flood of shops, so when it actually came on the net people thought they were just another shop like the other ones. The first image to show up was Sentinel using his assist, and really if someone can photoshop something like that then they really deserve praise. There are no 3D models of Capcom's version of Sentinel, therefore they'd have to create a 3D model from scratch, and they'd have to do their homework to find out how to make Sentinel clip with Arthur without making it look awkward. I've already blogged before that because of Lupinko's leaks I was already expecting them, but I really want to see Hsien-ko in 3D and see her in action in this game.

Phoenix and Mike Haggar confirmed for MvC3, Lupinko leaks proven true!

This isn't even posted on Shoryuken yet. Mike Haggar and Phoenix were confirmed today for Marvel vs. Capcom 3. That's interesting and all; but Haggar was already known beforehand and Phoenix was someone many people wanted in. The most interesting part about the reveals is that it proves Lupinko's leaked information to indeed be true.

If you look at the video for Phoenix, you'll see she does indeed turn into Dark Phoenix when her team goes down while she has a full 5 bars of special. This is the final nail in the coffin. There's no way Lupinko could make so many lucky guesses correctly. He's told us about this specific mechanic about Phoenix, about C.Viper having her EX and Focus moves (and the combination to execute them), specifically stated Shuma and Jill will be DLC, and a few other bits of information. In other words, he does have his source, and he was indeed leaking real information. This means the characters left to be unrevealed are Akuma, Taskmaster, Sentinel, and Hsien-ko.

Dunno how many of you read my previous Marvel vs Capcom post, but Hsien-ko is my favorite Darkstalker character, and I'm very excited that her inclusion has pretty much been confirmed along with Phoenix. I'm checking up on how Neogaf is reacting to Lupinko's final piece needed to prove his information is real, I may edit this post if there are any interesting tidbits in the thread.

Marvel vs Capcom EP 3 trailer released

Dunno if you guys have seen EP1 or EP2 yet, so I'll just leave those links there just in case.

The trailer is nice, but a bit on the short side. Also, we already got Viper revealed before the video, so she wasn't too surprising. I was expecting EP3 to be released this weekend, along with some new characters. Oh well, I guess we'll see what they have planned when the time comes. One interesting thing to note is that it says "US Version" on it, meaning that there's most likely a Japanese version of the trailer that's different. It's probably because they have Felecia in it, and the ESRB has stupid rules about not being able to advertise what's in your game, so I'll dig around for that later to see if I find anything.

On another note, there's been quite some interesting rumors lately. I usually don't like listening to those, as I've pointed out before. Most of them are seen as false until proven otherwise for me, and it seems there's actually one leak that's been gradually proven to be true lately. First of all, the leaker goes by the name of "Lupinko" and seems to be the only leaker that actually has information on the game, aside from Kensk, who hasn't revealed much this time due to him ruining the SSFIV list so early and feeling bad about it. The post in question can be found here. It's important to note that this post was made before Jill and Shuma-Gorath were revealed as DLC characters. In a later post (I'll try to find citation later) on the same forums, Lupinko also said that C.Viper would keep her focus and EX moves from SSFIV. And, now that Viper is revealed, this has been proven true. So, it seems this Lupinko really does have some inside source for his information. He's stated that Phoenix will be in the game, and that if her whole team goes down while having 5 special bars, she'll revive as Dark Phoenix. That may be the crazy and "broken" character Seth Killian has been talking about. Seth said it wasn't surprising that they were in the game, but how they were implemented.

Take it with a grain of salt. It's entirely possible some of the information is real while the rest is pulled from his ass. It's also possible he made lucky guesses, but I find that really unlikely. I am excited at the thought that Hsien-ko might be in the game though, since she's my favorite Darkstalker.

Yandere headphones have died.

We are here today to mourn for the departing of my crappy pair of headphones I've always used as a backup. Okay, they're not completely dead, it figures that they're so durable that they'll stay usable until the very end. Right now it plays music at a really low volume, unless you twist it around inside the socket a little to find just the right spot. With the passing of my old headphones near, am I free from the curse!? I just got a new pair yesterday, so we'll see.

Hopefully my new pair lasts me long. I'm tired of my ears literally bleeding from having those uncomfortable buds placed in them.

Yeah, kind of a filler post because I want to take it easy today. I have 7 pages to write tomorrow on useless crap and I already feel too lazy to get started on it. It's worth 10% of the grade though, and I completely forgot about it until now. It's supposed to be some reading journal that we write down after reading the stuff she assigns us. I know, that's kiddie stuff, I don't know why we're assigned something like this when we already do essays based off our readings. It doesn't help that I never read anything she's assigned in class because they were all stories that I've read in high school. I really hate having to take general course requirements that are there to just waste your time and money.

Also, freaking weekend with new Marvel vs Capcom news is taking forever to come. It's both a good and bad thing. Good because, well, I'd like some more news. If Megaman isn't announced this month, in his anniversary, chances are he's not in the game and will be saved for DLC (ugh). Bad news because it means that I'm getting closer to the due date of another essay.

I'll try to think of something cool to talk about tomorrow, if I'm bot too busy writing.

Marvel vs Capcom 3 available for pre-order, 2 DLC characters announced already.

Here is a link to the special edition of the game. As you can see, Capcom already has DLC  planned out. Jill and Shuma Gorath are returning characters available only through DLC. Now, I was planning on buying the collector's edition anyway, because there's no way I've been waiting a decade for this game to pick up the regular copy.
Shuma-Gorath (Deal with it)
Jill Valentine

I'm happy that Shuma got back in, it used him a lot in the past (even though he apparently was low tier in MvC2, but I don't care about that stuff, and certainly didn't care about it 10 years ago when playing this at my local pizza shop). But, DLC already on the way before the game even comes out. I've already said in an older post how I feel about DLC abuse. It doesn't particularly affect me in this case, but I still find it kind of a douchey move to make on Capcom's part. Characters that obviously weren't too influenced by character requests, meaning they were probably planned quite a bit in advance, meaning they didn't have any reason to make it as normal characters into the full roster of the game on release. At least the characters apparently only come out a month after the game's release, rather than as soon as it's out.

Oh well, guess it shows that more and more games will eventually lead into this direction.
According to Gamestop, the special edition comes with:

•Steelbook case featuring exclusive art work.
• Comic/Art book- A 12-page prologue comic, written by Marvel writer Frank Tieri, plus campaign art and a curated selection of fan art.
• 1-month Subscription to Marvel Digital Comics, providing unlimited online access to Marvel content.
• People who pre-order through GameStop will receive MvC3 console decals created by Fathead. Also, character cards with a move list and descriptions.

In other news, I don't really like following rumors much, but Kensk is the most reliable person when it comes to this stuff. He's announced all the characters for SSFIV before its release, including the newcomers we've shouldn't have known the names to at that point, he's told us MvC3 was going to be announced soon, as it really was announced a few weeks after, and all of his other information has been pretty spot on. In other words, he's proven he's either damn lucky, or actually does know someone inside to get leaks from. Getting to my point, he insinuated in this post that those 3 characters might possibly be in the game. Lei-lei(Hsien-ko) is my favorite Darkstalker. I really hope he doesn't pick now of all times to throw a lie out, because I'd love for her to be in this.

The game is set to be released Feb. 15 2011 in the US, and Feb. 18 in Europe.

Halloween plans

So, Halloween is coming up in a few days. What do you guys normally do around Halloween? I usually steal candy from my little brother, since he doesn't like candy anyway, but he's not going trick or treating today. My family does have candy for in neighborhood kids come though, and I doubt it'll all be taken, so I guess I'll just have to take from that pile.

Aside from that, I'm digging up some Halloween related tracks to marathon all day. Mostly BGMs from Visual Novels and such. Umineko and Saya make for okay Halloween music. I wonder if CD Anon is going to be handing out Yume Nikki this year. I'd do something cool like that, but I don't want to invest money (even if it's a small amount) into something like that. I doubt any of them would like that stuff anyway. They'll probably put the CD in just out of curiosity and then throw it out when they see they need to read a guide to install Yume Nikki or somethin.

Also, I'm half expecting some Marvel vs Capcom news sometime this week. It's been a while since we've gotten an update, and I believe Halloween to be the perfect opportunity to announce some spooky themed characters, especially since they're holding some kind of event at London and Paris this week.

Spencer, Arthur, M.O.D.O.K., and Magneto confirmed for MvC3

This news isn't so new as it's already been posted everywhere that matters while I was eating dinner, but in case any of you are interested in the game but don't actively check up on the news, I thought I'd let you in on today's reveals.

Arthur from Ghosts 'n Goblins, Spencer from Bionic Commando (the 2009 one), Magneto, and M.O.D.O.K. have been announced. Well, actually, Magneto and M.O.D.O.K. haven't really been announced yet, but their information was kinda leaked. Tomorrow they receive a formal release announcement.

As of right now, there aren't videos of the Marvel characters, but the Capcom side does have one for Spencer and Arthur.

Personally, I'm looking forward to playing Arthur. Loving his play style, love that they kept his original game movements, and loving that remixed theme they made for him. He's a very welcomed addition for me. I never played Bionic Commando, so dunno about Spencer. He seems like he's a bit odd to play with.

Now I'm wondering if M.O.D.O.K. is that "almost broken" character Seth was talking about before. Also, the addition of M.O.D.O.K. is further proof that the "leaked" list was never real. I blogged about that before though.

Short rant on the "leaked" character list of MvC3

Seth already said none of the leaked lists were 100% true. If it's not 100% true, it's not a leak, it's just guesses. A leaked list implies that someone got their hands on it straight from the source, when the source didn't intend to release it. If they have this list, it'd mean their list was 100% accurate, since it's straight from the source itself. The fact that it's not 100% accurate means it wasn't taken from the source.

What people fail to realize is the fact that there were a handful of "leaked" lists revealed on the same day with the same story.

"I got this from the main site due to a glitch on their part, but they took it down before anyone else got to see. But I have it!"

Yeah, okay buddy. That's fine and dandy, but it sounds like a cheat made up by some kid. Like the one that told you it's possible to unlock Master Hand in the first Super Smash Brothers by getting nearly impossible goals done (beat the game with every character in less than x amount of time without losing any lives and never getting above 50% damage!)

The thought never occurred to anyone that all of these leaked lists were released by the same person using different aliases?

If you take a multiple choice test one time and don't know the answers, taking it once will probably mean you'll fail. But what if you were allowed to submit multiple answer sheets? Well, your odds of passing just rose exponentially. Out of all your submitted sheets, one of them is bound to get a decent score.

That's what's going on now. People are selectively ignoring all the failed lists and paying attention to the one that actually has a good score so far.

I always see people talk about how unlikely some of the choices are. None of the choices are unlikely at all.

Okami rose a lot in popularity, and many hopes Amaterasu would be in. X-23 is quite popular in the comic book scene, and has been for quite some time. Of course, nobody knew her because nobody seems to read comics that aren't over a decade old.

Wesker had been expected ever since Chris was announced (day freaking one).

None of them are unlikely choices, you just want them to be unlikely because it backs up your claim if you make others believe this. Selectively blocking out evidence that disproves your claim, and then using coincidental data combined with your own personal bias to provide "evidence" that supports this claim.

We have evidence that the list isn't real. All of you attempt to brush this evidence away with "CAPCOM LIES" while presenting no solid evidence of your own. Capcom lying about the Street Fighter 4 disk is one single case, and I always see this as the first thing brought up when people say Capcom lies.

This is like going to a college campus, picking one student and asking their sexual orientation. when they tell you they're gay, you conclude all college students must be gay. From one single person out of everyone on the campus.Once instance of Capcom lying doesn't mean they lie a majority of the time.

I don't even care if most of the list is right; someone just made some really nice guesses. The other lists were wrong, and out of all of them, one of them were correct for the most part. Congratulations, but the list wasn't leaked.

Not particularly mad or anything, just feel people are sometimes a bit too gullible.
