QUALITY threads

QUALITY threads. You always see them. But you know why? Because people always give them attention. If you see a dumb thread, report it and hide it, it's really simple. This is an example right here. This thread shouldn't have gotten any posts. It should have just been removed without anyone paying mind to it. Instead, people post in it and give the OP something to amuse their self with. Yes, this even applies to that "reported" thing. I know, sometimes it is a bit funny to do it as a joke, but if you're seriously reporting a shitty thread, then there's no need for that. The OP most likely knows their thread will be deleted. They probably even want you to say "reported" to get attention. You're just amusing them. There's no reason to state that you reported someone. It's the same exact thing as saying "sage" in your post. You're saying "I don't like this thread, so I just wanted to post to tell you that I don't like this thread. Also, I'm not bumping it." Sure, at least they're adding a negative connotation to something that actually has one, but the message relayed is the same exact thing.

There's no reason for that. It just generates more attention and encourages more shitposts because they see how easy it is to "troll" you guys. Which kinda brings me to another gripe I have about how "trolls" post these days. They're not trying, but they don't have to try, because people make it easy for them. Why put thought into a good troll post when you could just make a shitty troll post that's extremely obvious, and people will still respond to it?

Just a short rant, I guess. Just find it ironic that the same people who think they're helping with the shitposts on /jp/ are actually just making them worse. If these posters got no replies or attention, they'd stop, because it'd be boring. But they know they're annoying you, so continue on.

It's a green text story so people are generally drawn to it.

I've always done this.

I also have 4watch installed, and I mark the threads as spam.

Though I've been going to /jp/ less and less because of the sheer amount of shit.

I remember seeing a Gamestop green text thread that was getting a lot of replies in /jp/. I couldn't understand how it was happening.

Even if the average intelligent person ignores the thread, you still have op same-fagging in the thread, and when people see that, they'll think people are already posting in the thread, so whats one more drop in the bucket?

You should see the "why can't us femanons have jock boyfriends?" threads, or some variation thereof. Nothing but attention seekers.

Isn't Sage used to say that your post isn't worthy enough to bump it? Such as you link a source or something after someone asks for it?

I always just hide shitposts when I'm browsing /jp/. But some days I end up hiding the entire front page. At that point I usually ragequit and find something better to do.

And that's how trolls win. You can troll back by pretending you genuinely appreciate their posts. That will annoy them more than being ignored.

That's too bad you see so much of this on /jp/ anymore. I hope things get better and people wise about about all this.
