Shinryaku! Ika Musume

Continuing with my fall anime, I decided my next series would be one that I planned on picking up before it had an anime greenlit for it, but I never got around to reading the manga. So, I thought it'd be the perfect choice for my second stop on this season's anime. Today I decided to give a look at Shinryaku! Ika Musume

Well, as the title suggests, the main character is indeed a squid girl. There's no real explanation as to where exactly she came from or anything, but this isn't a serious show, so that stuff can be saved for later (or never introduced even, doesn't matter too much). I have to say that I appreciate the lighthearted humor. Our main character, Ika Musume (Squid Girl) is a complete airhead from the bottom of the ocean, who came up to plot her revenge on the human race for their pollution. Obviously, she didn't quite know what she had in store for her. She comes up to the surface, and given how she seems like just an average little girl in a costume being silly, nobody really pays much mind to her. The closest place she saw happened to be a snack shack on a beach, which she attempts to take over as her base of operations. Well, that's nice and all, but she knows very little about the human world, so doesn't quite know what she's doing.

In her attempt to prove that she's not just some little girl playing games, she shows off her power to manipulate her tentacles; showing their impressive flexibility, strength, and speed. Of course, even with this, it doesn't change the fact that she's a complete airhead. There wasn't too much that stood out for me in terms of humor, but I did smile at some parts just because of how cute the humor was. It's the kind of series that gives you a warmhearted feeling in a way.
So our squid heroine ends up being tricked into working at the very place she intended to claim as her base. Pretty sure this is where the rest of the series is going to take place in. Slice of life series following the everyday life of the cute 'lil squid, being a general airhead and learning more and more about the world at a slow pace.

Seems like a show I'll be keeping up on. If anything I could just watch a few episodes here and there, rather than watching every episode on a weekly basis, as they're released. Might be a nice choice for those of you out there who just like comedy aimed at the All Age group.

On an unrelated note, my body is aching pretty badly today and I've no idea why. Just my body being a big sore, I guess. Hopefully I'll feel better after eating some dinner, but I'm too lazy to cook right now. But at least watching some Squid Girl antics managed to perk me up a bit mentally, even if my body is still in the dumps.
