They came!

Hey, what do you know, it's not a figure delivery this time. I came home and did some kanji grinding. Then I looked at the anime for this season and decided I'd try giving a few shows a try, even if I don't think I'd like them from the description (I've found many gems this way). After I loaded my downloads, I played some Pokemon and went into the kitchen to make some fried rice. I sat down at the table with my plate and realize my little brother didn't even tell me I had a package.

( ゚∀゚)o彡°
My dog got in somehow.
Ordered:
・のんのんびより 1 (Non Non Biyori 1)
・空ろの箱と零のマリア (Utsuro no Hako to Zero no Maria)
・ポンチョ 1 (Poncho 1)
・魔法少女まどか☆マギカ 1 (Mahou Shoujou Madoka☆Magika 1)

I normally just get them from my local bookstore, but they didn't have Madoka in yet at the time (I'm sure they do now though) and Utsuro no Hako to Zero no Maria was sold out. I could ask them to order it for me and ship it to my house though, but when it comes to ordering books I go with BK1 since it comes out cheaper that way. I could have checked some other Japanese bookstores in my area, but was too lazy. Figured I'd just save myself the trips and just order my books online this time. Total came out to 2410円、which is about the price I'd pay if I purchased all these in my local bookstore (the markup prices tend to balance out evenly with the subtraction of shipping costs).

Came here faster than I thought though. And once again, my bad memory creates nice surprises for me! I'd like to thank Tigoris for some recommendations. I read Non Non Biyori and Poncho and liked them enough to get physical copies. Madoka I got because I wanted to collect the series, and Utsuro no Hako to Zero no Maria is something I've wanted a physical copy of for quite some time already. Now I'll get back to doing some more kanji and take a break to read one of these guys.

In Japanese? That's hardcore!

I need to get around to learning Japanese properly, then I'll be able to read physical copies. I like reading them on my iPod, computer or ds but it just isn't the same as getting a physical copy to read. I think my first physical manga on my buy list would have to be Yotsuba&!

Yeah, I'm sticking away from English right now. I collected lots of Japanese manga before to practice with though, but I've been too intimidated before to read through more than a few chapters of them. But since I'm taking more initiative now, I decided I'll push through even if it seems hard. Though, to be honest, the only thing I find a little difficult to read from this batch is HakoMari.

@Claude
Yotsubato! was the first physical Japanese manga I've purchased actually.

Haha, when I saw the books you'd bought I had this moment of, "Hey, I recognize those!" It's really nice to know that at least one person likes my "introductions." I have never ordered from BK1, but I think I will try them when next I get money.

Really? BK1 has very reasonable prices, and they have shipping options that don't leave a big dent in your wallet.

Looks like a good haul.

Yay manga. My Japanese skills have gotten so bad by now that it takes me like 5 minutes to read things in katakana... Translate some "manga" for me >_>

Delicious package. I applaud you for isolating yourself away from English media. Good luck with reading these. I hope you enjoy them :3

You're living the dream with that haul. Someday I'll be at your level too.

Actually Kirari, I'm looking to buy a volume of Yotsubato right now, would you recommend BK1 to someone in Australia? If not any other online stores that are good? And if so, I'm sort of failing at navigating the site, I would be grateful for any aid.

What a pleasant surprise.

I find the added bonus of not having to go outside makes up for it. If only I wasn't such a poor peasant.

I do this every season, I usually drop a ton of shows because of this.

>markup prices tend to balance out evenly with the subtraction of shipping costs

I wish this applied to figures too.

Hell Yeah

Even better. >:3 I love reading straight from the source. I have so much doujinshi right now I don't even know what to do with it.

I can't believe I haven't watched you yet. Gonna do that now. ~(^3^)~

@Claude
I'm not sure if the prices will be bad for Australia or not, actually. It should be fine, since they ship with SAL and worldwide. The site is in Japanese though, and you do need to sign up before buying anything.

I'm sure someone has made a short translation somewhere. I'll google it up right now. If one doesn't exist I'll just take my own screenshots and maybe make my next blog post giving a translation and walkthrough of how to buy on BK1.

How much was the shipping for these books? I plan to buy a few artbooks in the future and that seems to be a good site since they offer SAL. I've gotten forced EMS the few times I've bought books in the past.

I just googled it up and someone did indeed translate the signup for BK1 here. They even translated the checkout pages as well, which I wasn't expecting. It's a bit out of date and looks slightly different than from when I ordered, but that shouldn't hinder you too much at all. If anyone needs help with something I don't mind an off topic comment on one of my future entries asking for help.

Thanks for the information Kirari, I'll look for that guide now.
