Making a list and checking it twice

Still tacking my backlog, so more filler. Right now I'm also in the process of making my list for Christmas (or rather, my birthday, I think my family wouldn't get Christmas gifts for me anymore, but since it's my birthday they still do).

I'm actually a bit stuck on what I want. I have some figures, a new hard drive, a few games...but it's so much more empty than when I was a kid. What's up with that? Do I really not have much need for more stuff? Then again, I'm holding out on putting the really expensive stuff on my list, like this gloriously overpriced Reimu.

On another note, Akiba-Pop! posted this really cool entry about an upcoming Umineko fighting game that I'm 100% hyped for. Felt like mentioning that, because that post really made my night.

My parents don't do anything for Christmas or my birthday anymore. Although, I don't really mind.

Same here. For us internet dwellers, most of the things we want are just a click/download away. My family usually sends me movies and books for Christmas without realizing I can just find all those things online for free.

You should tell us what you get for Christmas.

This is true but I still enjoy the atmosphere of this time of year since there's no sun to ruin my fun.

Your parents are okay with buying you figures for Christmas? Goddamn.

In AKIBA's post: Is it just me, or does the artwork look very similar to Blazblue's art style?

They look similar, but that can't possibly be a bad thing. Blazblue has some beautiful artwork for a fighting game.

I feel the exact same. I don't buy presents unless someone requests a gift from me. My sisters give out presents all the time, as do my female friends. Is it a girl thing?

Yeah. My room is filled with figures already, so it's not like it's surprising or anything. I do usually put American seller sites for them though, unless it's absolutely not sold anywhere.

@Kami No Pocky
Pre-orders just closed today, sadly, so even if I wanted to make my family drop their jaw at that price tag, they couldn't get it anymore even if they wanted to.

And I will never have another chance to get gypsy Reimu.

I'm already getting to the age where I should think about giving out more gifts than I receive, I think. As a kid, I got entirely too many clothing gifts that I was not nearly appreciative of as I should have been.

Nice clothes are pretty expensive, and I could always use a better wardrobe, just for the few times I do go out every now and then.

About wanting less things as you grow up, all I can think of is that you begin to appreciate what you have more and cherish the things you have and get, instead of wanting everything.

as you grow up, you'll feel empty because you're not a kid anymore

@Seion
Yeah, I think the fact that I don't have a job and my birthday is Christmas day pushes the expected age that I'm supposed to be giving gifts up. I don't have my own income, so don't have enough money to gift anyone, and my family thinks that my birthday should come first before Christmas. I usually end up with more presents and priority on Christmas lists, which nobody (not even the kids) have a problem with at all.

Not true, I'm still a kid ;_;

I'm rather desperate for that Reimu figure, but I just don't think I can part with that much money for a single figure. Also, my Mom is getting me the WonFest Winter Miku nendoroid for Christmas. I can't wait.
